Match Reports |
In todays FA Shield game the Clifton Fc under 10 whites felt the agony of a penalty shoot out.
Like Psycho and Waddle in Italia 90, Roberto Baggio in USA 94, Southall in Euro 96, Batty in France 1998, Beckham in Portugal 2004, Lampard in Germany 2006, not to mention Diana Ross in the opening ceremony of the world cup in USA in 94, the mighty whites yesterday sufferered the agonies and heartbreak of defeat in a penalty shhot out against Wollaton Hall. The game was played at a frantic pace throughout in a match that had the crowd chewing their finger nails right down to the 12th and final penalty kick. Wollaton started the stronger and took a somewhat fortuitous lead with a deflected shot that squirmed through stand in keeper Luca's legs as he desperately tried to prevent the ball from crossing the line. The whites came back strongly and pressed forward as they went for the equaliser. Reo forced a good save from the Wollaton keeper and headed just over from a corner,

Hucknall sports were beat today with a 1-0 win and a great goal by west bridgeford giants.
The game started evenly with a great tempo and half way thruogh giants put one in the net. But heads stayed high with michin narrowly missing and clifford hitting the bar and the post. Second half came and new signing hayes came on and the game heated up with clifford winning a free kick and cannon putting it into the side netting a great performance by both teams but for sports it was one of those game where it would not go in.

The Mighty Whites were faced with a stern test at the Lane today against league leaders Vernon and although they more than held their own in a tight first half, they were eventually worn down by a relentless and strong Vernon team.
The boys got off to an excellent start and the two teams went toe to toe and traded counter attacks, with both keepers making good saves. Damon outpaced the Vernon defence before unleashing a snap shot that the keeper did well to hold. Vernon countered quickly with the ball flashing several times across goal before Jake was forced into making a fine reflex save. Conor and Gizzy had to be on their toes as Vernon

Statement re Notts County COE from Peter Burton the Notts FA Youth Secretary |
|
Wednesday, 10 September 2008 |
|
The Young Elizabethan League have today (9 Sept) received the following statement re Notts County COE from Peter Burton the Notts FA Youth Secretary.
The FA Rules & Regulations state:
Clubs must be made aware of FA Rule C2 (Approaches)
Professional clubs must follow this rule as confirmed in paragraph (ix) – this also clearly states that Licensed Academies and Centres of Excellence can only approach two players during the playing season (1st July – 31st May)
Centres of Excellence:
The regulations regarding CoE’s clearly state that players registered at a CoE can only play in categories A and B (Academies, CoE’s and Schools). However, it does say that the Director of the Centre of Excellence can give written permission for a player to play for a Category C club – this is the exception rather than the norm as players at CoE’s are subject to a limited number of matches which has to be monitored by the Director of the CoE. We believe that it is prudent for category C clubs to work on the basis that players at CoE’s cannot play for Category C clubs.
Notts FA have no jurisdiction over Notts County FC – any complaints about the activities of their personnel should be referred to the Football League (Graham Hawkins)
