Updated Wednesday 24 June

The YEL Divisional Committee will meet early July to formulate the Divisions for the 2008/2009 season.

All teams have until 30 June 2008 to submit by email (to Kev Cooper) any requests for special consideration for promotion & relegation.

The Divisional Committee will compile the Divisions based on the number of entries received, all Champions & Runners up will be automatically promoted, all other decisions including relegation are decided by the Divisional Committee. At some age groups we have lots of new teams and there may be more Divisions than last season in some age groups, which results in lots of teams changing Divisions.

The Invoices for League fees have been sent out and need to be paid by 30 June, the Divisions will not be set until all Clubs have paid the League Fees.

Further information on the format of the u8s sections for the 2008/2009 season will be announced soon.

Stapleford Villa V Aslockton Cranmers - U9 - 05/03/2006 | Print |
Thursday, 09 March 2006
Aslockton end season on a high.

Visiting Aslockton Cranmers FC started brightly on a cold but beautifully sunny day, with a perfect goal kick from ACFC keeper MUSSERT taken neatly by centre-forward WILSON who turned smartly away from his marker and found himself with only the Stapleford keeper to beat, slotting it neatly into the back of the net, 1 - 0.

Aslockton maintained the pressure with winger DEXTER rampaging down the left, taking a chance with a clever low poke of the ball through the keepers legs to increase Aslockton's early lead, 2 - 0.

However, Stapleford fought back and taking advantage of Aslocktons complacency and lazy defending by some forward players, broke through and scored with a lovely strike connecting with a perfect cross sent in from the right, 2 - 1.

This set-back seemed to wake Aslockton up and their defence improved considerably with left-back TONG (MOTM)and right-back BLATHERWICK forming a solid and dependable partnership in front of goal which resisted all further attempts by Stapleford in the first half.

It was not however the end of Aslockton's goal blitz, WILSON taking a second goal with a lovely chip over the keepers head to make it 3 - 0, right-winger HARDY launching one of his trademark unstoppable strikes into the top of the net and ACFC Captain BEARDSLEY making the play in the centre allowing WILSON to slot in another two goals to make his tally 22 league goals for the season, half-time 6 - 1 to the visitors.

The second half started with ACFC taking WILSON off to give DAWS a run-out, who showed good movement upfront and made an instant impression with a superb volley which, if it had gone in, would have been the goal of the season. In the event it hit the crossbar giving Stapleford a reprieve.

However, Stapleford refused to give up and kept their heads high, fighting back with a vengence, and breaking through onto Aslocktons goal a number of times to give MUSSERT a challenging time and scoring a second goal from some really skillful play with a third coming from a goal-mouth scramble, badly cleared by ACFC which ended up trickling over the line, full time Stapleford 3 - ACFC 6.

A great game played in a good spirit, with the home team showing real conviction, espeicially in the second half when they had the best of the game.

Gareth Wilson, Assistant coach ACFC
