	Welcome to The Young Elizabethan Football League Website The YEL is a Nottinghamshire based football league formed in 1955. We run leagues for age groups from under 8's to under 14's boys. We have over 400 teams from many clubs throughout Nottinghamshire. Clubs such as Arnold Town FC, Keyworth United, Long Eaton United, and Priory Celtic FC.

All Registration issues are dealt with by the Notts FA, we advise all teams to deal with Notts FA via your Club Secretary, with any Player Registration enquiries.

A player cannot play in a YEL League or Cup match without a valid 2008/09 Registration card, NO CARD = NO PLAY

We understand Notts County FC are using a number of players in trial matches this weekend, the YEL have no powers with regards this issue, Clubs should discuss any player issues with Mick Leonard of Notts County FC.

A player signed by Notts County FC can only play in the YEL with a signed letter from Notts County giving special permission and is subject to a limited number of games, if in doubt we recommend you do not use the player in the YEL.

If any team needs to cancel a fixture due to a shortage of players (due to missing cards or Notts County trialists) our advice is cancel the match and provide full reasons to the Match Controller. The YEL Committee will then discuss all cancellations at a later date and decide if any fines are liable due to cancellation taking the circumstances into consideration.

Aslockton take all three points from understrength but spirited Gedling Town.

Visitors Gedling came to a sunny but cold Aslockton with a seven man squad, an improvement on the last fixture but without a goalie, to meet a full strength eight man Aslockton team.

Despite being bottom of the table, Gedling displayed determination in defence in the face of unrelenting Aslockton pressure from the kick-off and it took some time before DAWS at right back, in his first full game of the season, opened the scoring with a powerful shot which deflected off a defender and gave the Gedling goalie no chance of stopping it.

Aslockton continued to pin Gedling in their half and it was not long before Aslockton Captain BEARDSLEY slotted in the second with a powerful shot which, although the Gedling keeper had a hand to it, he could not prevent it hitting the back of the net.

Despite this setback, Gedling keep fighting and mounted some dangerous attacks which, although dealt with well by Aslockton's defensive duo of BLATHERWICK and TONG and leaving Aslockton keeper MUSSERT with little to do, nevertheless kept them busy.

The half-time score could have been worse for the visitors but Aslockton centre-forward WILSON was not his normal predatory self and failed to convert some fantastic balls from left-winger DEXTER, due in part to some great keeping by Gedling's stand-in goalie. Half time 2 - 0 to Aslockton.

The second half opened with a third for Aslockton from WILSON who at last found his form and took the game by the scruff of the neck with some scintillating football going forward which earned him Man of the Match, enabling right-winger HARDY to claim the fourth with an unstoppable strike.

Gedling could have folded at this point but instead surged forward and carved their way through Aslocktons defence and it was only due to keeper MUSSERT's extreme efforts which prevented Gedling getting on the score sheet.

After this scare, ACFC's coach decided that attack was the best form defence and threw Captain BEARDSLEY forward who was soon rewarded with a goal from a scorching shot from the left field into the corner of Gedlings net which sealed Aslockton's first victory in 2006.

Nevertheless, Gedling were greatly improved as a squad from our first encounter with growing experience and team spirit earned the hard way and talented individual players and it was a pleasure to host them.
