Calverton MW v Aslockton Cranmers - U9 - 13/02/2006 | Print |
Tuesday, 14 February 2006
Calverton take all three points from below par Aslockton.

It had been raining all the previous night and conditions were very muddy, down one wing the pitch was waterlogged, and visiting Aslockton's passing game was hampered by the slowness of the ball.

ACFC attacked straight away from kick-off but quickly lost possesion as passes failed to find their target on the sodden pitch and Calverton were soon ahead with a great headed goal from a corner for the home teams Captain.

However, Aslockton showed the fighting spirit they have developed this season to equalise with a superb volley from their own Captain BEARDSLEY and end the first half 1 - 1.

Calverton continued the stronger team throughout the second half gaining two more goals after the visitors continued to lose possession, unable to pass strongly enough to overcome the pitch conditions and despite flashes of individual brilliance from the likes of HARDY and TONG and some immense last ditch saves from keeper MUSSERT, Aslockton just could not get it together as a team and get back into the game.

It was probably the most disappointing Aslockton performance this season, coming as it did after three strong showings against the top three teams in the league, and we need to raise our game for our final two matches and shake off the post-illness and winter blues.
