Updated Wednesday 24 June

The YEL Divisional Committee will meet early July to formulate the Divisions for the 2008/2009 season.

All teams have until 30 June 2008 to submit by email (to Kev Cooper) any requests for special consideration for promotion & relegation.

The Divisional Committee will compile the Divisions based on the number of entries received, all Champions & Runners up will be automatically promoted, all other decisions including relegation are decided by the Divisional Committee. At some age groups we have lots of new teams and there may be more Divisions than last season in some age groups, which results in lots of teams changing Divisions.

The Invoices for League fees have been sent out and need to be paid by 30 June, the Divisions will not be set until all Clubs have paid the League Fees.

Further information on the format of the u8s sections for the 2008/2009 season will be announced soon.

Keyworth take point from unlucky Aslockton.

After a mauling from visiting Aslockton earlier in the season, Keyworth came to the match looking for revenge and victory, and indeed it was the visitors who went ahead on the break with a goal from DUNKLEY, clearly signalling their intent. The home side nevertheless fought back with some skillful passing football and Aslockton Captain BEARDSLEY was soon rewarded with an equaliser.

Aslockton maintained the pressure throughout the rest of the second half, their defenders TONG and BLATHERWICK stiffling any counter-attacks by the visitors, developing a strong partnership at the back and with a powerful attacking combination of WILSON in the centre, HARDY on the right causing Keyworth real problems and a battling DEXTER storming down the left wing, Aslockton went ahead with a great left footed effort from DEXTER minutes before half-time.

However, as the second half started, Keyworth surged forward
and took a sleepy and complacent Aslockton apart, gaining the equaliser from COULTHARD within seconds of kick-off.

At this point the home team could have folded but waking up and displaying a fighting spirit we have become used to seeing pressed forward and made repeated attacks on the visitors goal, coming close so many times, a superb header from WILSON shaving the post, multiple shots from DEXTER on the left and HARDY on the right but the winning goal eluded Aslockton and time, luck and Keyworths defenders, especially the superb McCONACHIE were against them.

Nevertheless, it was a highly enjoyable match
and with both coaches more or less giving their teams the order to "go out and entertain us" a la Ron Atkinson, it was thrilling end-to-end stuff keeping Aslockton's MUSSERT and Keyworth's MACHIN busy in goal, both of whom made some great saves.

Aslockton were disappointed not to take all three points but it was pleasure to host Keyworth and we all enjoyed a superb game of football, well played.

Gareth Wilson, Assistant Coach, Aslockton Cranmers FC
