In todays FA Shield game the Clifton Fc under 10 whites felt the agony of a penalty shoot out.

Like Psycho and Waddle in Italia 90, Roberto Baggio in USA 94, Southall in Euro 96, Batty in France 1998, Beckham in Portugal 2004, Lampard in Germany 2006, not to mention Diana Ross in the opening ceremony of the world cup in USA in 94, the mighty whites yesterday sufferered the agonies and heartbreak of defeat in a penalty shhot out against Wollaton Hall. The game was played at a frantic pace throughout in a match that had the crowd chewing their finger nails right down to the 12th and final penalty kick. Wollaton started the stronger and took a somewhat fortuitous lead with a deflected shot that squirmed through stand in keeper Luca's legs as he desperately tried to prevent the ball from crossing the line. The whites came back strongly and pressed forward as they went for the equaliser. Reo forced a good save from the Wollaton keeper and headed just over from a corner,

The Mighty Whites were faced with a stern test at the Lane today against league leaders Vernon and although they more than held their own in a tight first half, they were eventually worn down by a relentless and strong Vernon team.

The boys got off to an excellent start and the two teams went toe to toe and traded counter attacks, with both keepers making good saves. Damon outpaced the Vernon defence before unleashing a snap shot that the keeper did well to hold. Vernon countered quickly with the ball flashing several times across goal before Jake was forced into making a fine reflex save. Conor and Gizzy had to be on their toes as Vernon

Young Elizabethan League 1st4Sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football

The Nottinghamshire FA (NFA) and Young Elizabethan League (YEL) are working in partnership to address the number of unqualified managers and coaches within teams that play in the YEL.

Currently the number of teams without a qualified manager and/or coach is 33%.  The target by the end of the 2007/08 season is to reduce this figure to 20%.

Two 1st4Sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football Courses have been organized to run on weekend dates when there are no fixtures.

These courses are exclusively for managers and coaches within the YEL, and as such a special rate is being offered!

Please follow the simple steps below:

1. Read the application form that is included with this letter.

2. Please ensure that you mark the two venues with your preferred choice (1 and 2!) as it is first come first serve so you might get a place but not at your first choice venue!

3. Complete all the relevant information that is asked for on the application form.

4. Send the completed application form along with the £100.00 to Football Development (at the address shown on the application form)

5. Go to http://www.intosport.org.uk/index/coachsport/fundingforcourses.htm and complete one of the forms (either the Nottingham City or Nottinghamshire County form depending on where you are a resident in Nottinghamshire). This will allow you to apply for up to 50% of the course fee.

Please note this is not a 100% guarantee as the form is reviewed by a panel and they do reserve the right to reject any application.

This form must be completed and submitted to the address on their form no later than 28 days of the course start date.

6. If you are accepted onto the course you will receive written confirmation and details from the Nottinghamshire FA.

7. On completion of the course the YEL will send you a reimbursement of £25 per successful candidate.

If you do apply for the 50% coaching bursary and are successful, and you complete the course and receive £25 back from the YEL all of this will mean that the 1st4Sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football course will have cost you £25!
