Sunday 25th February Kimberley Miners Welfare Black U8 1 -0 Pegasus Youth Cavaliers U8 Kimberley Miners Welfare Black Under 8's rounded off an excellent season with a win over the league winners and until today undefeated Pegasus Youth Cavaliers. Both teams started very well with action at both ends, Kimberley had the better of the early chances,Midfielder Wren coming closest only to be denied by an excellent save from the Pegasus keeper, at the other end Pegasus hit the bar
with a great effort from outside the box,but the two Kimberley defenders Hunt and Taylor controlled the attacking Pegasus with brilliant defence work, half time came, 0 - 0 after a very close first half with Kimberley just having the upper hand. The Second half started as the first half ended both teams applied end to end pressure, Pegasus pushed on but only to be denied by excellent goalkeeping from Palmer,Kimberley stepped up a gear with brilliant work from Barlow on the left and Hindle on the right, the pressure from Kimberley payed off, a ball from the right side, Hindle to Barlow who picked out the forward Palethorpe who had battled all game with the Pegasus defence,Palethorpe got between the advancing keeper and defender to lob the ball into the net with an excellent finish. Pegasus pressed on but couldn't break down Kimberley. Overall the win & the game of the season was excellent for Kimberley but both teams played as they have all season in a very good fair sporting manner, Congratulations to both teams rounding off an excellent season.
