Saturday saw Sports away to Clifton AW White.

This was an evenly matched game with both teams playing really well. Sports opened the scoring with a great goal in off the post, by Watts. Watts was unlucky not to score his second, when a fine shot went through the 'keepers legs and rolled along the goal mouth, but lucky for Sports an unmarked McShane was on hand to tap it over the line. Clifton replied just before half time with a goal from McNicholas.

The second half started well for both sides, with substitutes Kibble and Trueman on for Rose and McShane. Both boys got stuck in and played well. Sports were unlucky to have several shots go wide, and some fine goalkeeping from the ever consistent Clarke and great defending from 'flying' Ellis stopped Clifton from equalising. But unfortunately that was not to be and a stunning goal from a corner taken by McNicholas saw the game end 2-2.

Man of the Match went to Ellis.

T. Kibble (Hucknall Sports U9s Whites)
