In todays FA Shield game the Clifton Fc under 10 whites felt the agony of a penalty shoot out.

Like Psycho and Waddle in Italia 90, Roberto Baggio in USA 94, Southall in Euro 96, Batty in France 1998, Beckham in Portugal 2004, Lampard in Germany 2006, not to mention Diana Ross in the opening ceremony of the world cup in USA in 94, the mighty whites yesterday sufferered the agonies and heartbreak of defeat in a penalty shhot out against Wollaton Hall. The game was played at a frantic pace throughout in a match that had the crowd chewing their finger nails right down to the 12th and final penalty kick. Wollaton started the stronger and took a somewhat fortuitous lead with a deflected shot that squirmed through stand in keeper Luca's legs as he desperately tried to prevent the ball from crossing the line. The whites came back strongly and pressed forward as they went for the equaliser. Reo forced a good save from the Wollaton keeper and headed just over from a corner,

Hucknall sports were beat today with a 1-0 win and a great goal by west bridgeford giants.

The game started evenly with a great tempo and half way thruogh giants put one in the net. But heads stayed high with michin narrowly missing and clifford hitting the bar and the post. Second half came and new signing hayes came on and the game heated up with clifford winning a free kick and cannon putting it into the side netting a great performance by both teams but for sports it was one of those game where it would not go in.

The Mighty Whites were faced with a stern test at the Lane today against league leaders Vernon and although they more than held their own in a tight first half, they were eventually worn down by a relentless and strong Vernon team.

The boys got off to an excellent start and the two teams went toe to toe and traded counter attacks, with both keepers making good saves. Damon outpaced the Vernon defence before unleashing a snap shot that the keeper did well to hold. Vernon countered quickly with the ball flashing several times across goal before Jake was forced into making a fine reflex save. Conor and Gizzy had to be on their toes as Vernon

After a slow start h.s.blacks found there feet with a 2-1 win over w.b.bulldogs. sports went on to the pitch wanting to prove to them selves that they could work as a team and put up a challenge after a disappointing defeat starting the season. from the start of the game the bulldogs were under pressure with clifford, and cannon hitting the target early only to be saved by the keeper.after a few minutes cannon put up a great pass for clifford to put the ball into the net for the first.

Sunday 11th March 2007 Hucknall Sports 2 - Kimberley Miners Welfare Black 0

Kimberley Miners Welfare Black Under 8's started there second of three cup group games with an away fixture against Hucknall Sports in the YEL President’s Cup Group Stages. The conditions couldn’t have been any better for the players and spectators on a sunny dry Sunday morning. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OUR REFEREES

The number of Qualified Referees involved with the YEL continues to grow on a monthly basis and in total our Referee Secretary has used over one hundred 'official' referees in the 5 playing months from March to November.

A total of 1400 YEL eleven a side games have been covered by an official referee during this period as the League continue to aim towards qualified referees on all 11 a side games.

We have more than 75% of referees with an average mark of better than 9 out of 10.

Our second Mini Soccer Referee course to be held in January is now full with more than 40 people learning more about the laws of the game as we aim to give them the confidence to become better referees.

Whilst nationally the number of referees continues to fall, within the YEL numbers continue to grow and we say thank you to all the referees that give up there time at weekends to make the YEL stronger
