Match Reports |
In todays FA Shield game the Clifton Fc under 10 whites felt the agony of a penalty shoot out.
Like Psycho and Waddle in Italia 90, Roberto Baggio in USA 94, Southall in Euro 96, Batty in France 1998, Beckham in Portugal 2004, Lampard in Germany 2006, not to mention Diana Ross in the opening ceremony of the world cup in USA in 94, the mighty whites yesterday sufferered the agonies and heartbreak of defeat in a penalty shhot out against Wollaton Hall. The game was played at a frantic pace throughout in a match that had the crowd chewing their finger nails right down to the 12th and final penalty kick. Wollaton started the stronger and took a somewhat fortuitous lead with a deflected shot that squirmed through stand in keeper Luca's legs as he desperately tried to prevent the ball from crossing the line. The whites came back strongly and pressed forward as they went for the equaliser. Reo forced a good save from the Wollaton keeper and headed just over from a corner,

Hucknall sports were beat today with a 1-0 win and a great goal by west bridgeford giants.
The game started evenly with a great tempo and half way thruogh giants put one in the net. But heads stayed high with michin narrowly missing and clifford hitting the bar and the post. Second half came and new signing hayes came on and the game heated up with clifford winning a free kick and cannon putting it into the side netting a great performance by both teams but for sports it was one of those game where it would not go in.

The boys got off to an excellent start and the two teams went toe to toe and traded counter attacks, with both keepers making good saves. Damon outpaced the Vernon defence before unleashing a snap shot that the keeper did well to hold. Vernon countered quickly with the ball flashing several times across goal before Jake was forced into making a fine reflex save. Conor and Gizzy had to be on their toes as Vernon

FA Shield rules and player eligibility |
|
Monday, 06 August 2007 |
|
A reminder to all teams re the Notts FA Shield rules and player eligibility.
The u11s to u14s FA Shield competitions are SATURDAY competitions.
All matches are played on Saturdays and therefore any player that is registered to a Saturday team must reprsent that team in the Shield.
YEL Sunday teams are welcome to enter the FA Shield provided they play the matches on Saturdays and do not use Saturday registered players.
Any team unable to field a team of Sunday only players should contact Notts FA asap and withdraw from the competition.
The u10s rule is different, the competition has a Saturday & Sunday section (which merge at semi finals) and players can choose which team to play for, but are only permitted to play for one team in the FA Shield per season.
